Trace your roots with me,
Lauryn Macdonald.

I’m an Edmonton-based genealogical researcher with a passion for discovering forgotten facts and solving family mysteries. With over 15 years of research experience, I’ve always been curious to know more about the people who came before us.

My passion for genealogy goes back as far as I can remember. My mom has told me that as a toddler, I asked just about every person I met, “Who’s your grandpa? Do you have a sister? How many cousins do you have?” I’ve always loved figuring out family relations, and understanding the why and how behind family stories clicked when I discovered genealogy.

My fascination with learning about those who came before us is what led me to complete a Bilingual Bachelor of Arts in History at York University’s Glendon College in Toronto. My degree specialized in immigration and migration histories, particularly within Euro-North American communities.

My personal and professional genealogical research experience has focused on Canadian, French Canadian (je suis bilingue!), American, English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Jamaican, Oceanic, and other Western European communities. I especially love discovering what I call “micro-histories” — the intricate and personal stories unique to our individual ancestors that contributed to larger historical events. These are the stories that truly shaped our lives.

Ready to see how I can help you discover the stories in your family tree? I’d love to hear from you!
