Why Work With Me?
I’m Lauryn, a genealogist and DNA researcher based in Edmonton, Alberta. I specialize in helping everyday family historians make sense of cousin matches, break down brick walls, and tell the stories hidden in their DNA.
Whether you’ve tested with AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, or another service, I can help you turn those matches into meaningful discoveries.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Just book a free consultation! Before we chat, I’ll ask you to share a brief summary of your goals—whether you’re working with DNA results, stuck on a particular ancestor, or just starting from scratch.
-
I use a mix of civil registrations, census records, immigration records, historical newspapers, church registers, and online family trees (carefully evaluated). If we’re working with DNA, I’ll also look at shared matches and segment data when available.
Lauryn will also build an Ancestry tree for you with collaborator access under your own Ancestry account. All clients will receive a GEDCOM export of their tree. You can upload this file to many family research websites to continue building your tree.
-
Yes! I love untangling tough research problems. While not every question has a clear answer, I’ll always be honest about the likelihood of success and work with you to build a targeted plan. Many clients start with a 3–5 hour package and expand from there.
-
Absolutely. I work with clients across Canada, the U.S., and beyond. My research focus is mostly on North American and Western European ancestries, but I’m happy to explore records from other regions as needed.
-
No problem! I’ll guide you through every step and deliver easy-to-read results, even if you’ve never used a genealogy website before. We can meet by Zoom, or I can send everything by email.
-
All research includes a written summary of findings, a list of sources used, and any relevant charts, visuals, or tree files (e.g. GEDCOM export.) I always explain how I arrived at conclusions so you can follow along or continue your own research afterward.
